About Petra Hooyenga

Allied health clinically trained Nutritionist (CPN) | Nutritional Epidemiologist (MSc)

With over a decade of clinical expertise, Petra is a respected and caring nutritionist who specialises in a food first approach for health and recovery. Her warm, collaborative style emphasises practical tools, measurable progress, and client empowerment, fostering person-centred, confident and self-reliant healthy eating and nutrition habits.

Petra is all about using food as medicine first, and added nutritional therapeutics where beneficial for recovery and health. This passion was ignited by supporting a family member’s health challenges, including a rare genetic condition and Autism, which highlighted the powerful role of epigenetics and daily food choices in influencing health outcomes.

Petra supports clients with nutrition for:

  • Preventative health optimisation and longevity
  • Weight management and energy optimisation
  • Metabolic health and insulin resistance
  • Gut health and digestive concerns
  • Immune support and chronic fatigue
  • Hormonal imbalances and PCOS
  • Fertility, preconception and pregnancy
  • Menopause and perimenopause

You will find Petra to be a genuine, caring and compassionate partner in health who provides clarity and direction.  Outside the clinic, Petra enjoys time with family, friends and her dog Byron. She loves the outdoors and gets up at the crack of dawn to go paddling at Pittwater.
